Don’t expect your phone to be working

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Typical to most events where everyone is trying to meet each other at the same place and time, the mobile phone networks get overloaded.

It is best to plan a meeting point at regular intervals… just like the good ol days.

Also, if you make it to the bar, get as many drinks as you can carry (responsibly!). Nothing’s worse than lining up for 15minutes then finishing your drink before you return to your friends.

Do i need to mention sunscreen? Shotgun not getting skin cancer this year by Not putting on perfume or cologne on skin which gets direct sunlight AND make sure you’re wearing sunscreen.

Ekka Races at Eagle Farm Public Transport

Monday, August 10th, 2009

There are good public transport options for getting to both the Doomben and Eagle Farm racecourses. You can get detailed bus, train and ferry timetable information from the TransLink website.

Ascot station is situated adjacent to Eagle Farm, with direct access to the racecourse. Catch the Doomben line train from Roma Street, Central or Brunswick Street stations.

The City Cat operates down river to Bretts Wharf.  It is approximately a 10 minute walk along Racecourse Road to the main entrance of Eagle Farm (about 800m).

A taxi rank is located right outside the main entrance.

If you’d prefer to drive parking is free at Eagle Farm, which you can reach via Lancaster Road or Nudgee Road.

There are allocated disabled parking spaces in the main Nudgee Road car park, close to the main entrance.
